Causes & Symptoms of PMDD
Current research on PMDD suggests that it may have a genetic cause, but there is…
There are no medical tests to diagnose PMDD. PMDD advocacy and information group Vicious cycle recommend keeping a diary of symptoms for 2 or 3 months, which can then be shown to a doctor. Blood tests cannot tell you if you have PMDD as many people with the condition have hormone levels within the normal range; a sensitivity to fluctuations in hormone levels is what causes symptoms of PMDD. It is important for your GP to run blood tests to rule out other conditions and ensure you can get the best and most appropriate support.
